Morning rituals set the tone for the day. They have a large say in preparing you to be productive for when you enter the office. What you do when you start your day has the potential to either make or break your day. In my case, I have to start my day with some form of exercise, followed by a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee.
There are some people who don’t bother with rituals. They get up in the morning and do whatever comes their way first. However, I would advise that we change that and adopt a new healthier way of starting the day. The benefits of a good, structured morning ritual go a long way in making you want to get up and face the day.
So, to help you get started, here is what some of our readers offered about how they start their day:
“Usually the one thing I would do in the morning is to gym. Then I know I’ll have a good day.” - Randy Williams
“Soulful house music does it for me.” - Kgolo Ramashala
“My morning ritual is prayer- when I open my eyes I lie silently in my bed and say a silent greeting to the Holy Trinity. After that then I jump out of bed.” - Bulelwa Makiki
“I consider the following three things to be my top priority as I wake up:
First step; the sound of a boiling kettle sets the tone for my mental alertness and reminds me of the fact that there is no turning back. Some mornings I stand for a minute just processing my plans for the day while warming my hands on the kettle.
The second step is, switch on the radio. I prefer a good morning show with music, news and a topic for the day. This wakes my mind up and gets me thinking. I also love a good sing along as I start my 3rd step.
Open up the curtains. With music in the background while I look outside the window, it confirms a promise of a new day. - John Masilo”
