2014 is coming to an end with summer 2015 promising to be an exciting season in menswear with deep green, earth brown, indigo, heather blue and burgundy the colours to look out for.

Military and uniform-inspired silhouettes have played a big role in men’s attire for a long time and it’s no surprise the influence that it still has today. Colours ranging from darker to lighter olive greens are largely present in this season’s catalogue. These trending techno fabrics have been paired with relaxed fits, tailored suits and shorts.

More earthy browns are replacing the dark chocolate brown we have been seeing in previous seasons. The shade is deep with a touch of red. Light knits, suits, trench coats and chinos are common items that work well with this hue. What has been seen to complement these darker tones are lighter primary colours.

Blue is in, from indigo to heather. The shades of blue are often styled as a monochrome theme, but another fresh colour to look out for this summer is the dark red burgundy. This vineyard inspired colour has been seen in numerous collections. Jackets and knits seem to be the items designers are often choosing to use.

This season we will also see the silhouette of menswear leaning to a looser fitting and boxed look. With the main theme coming through, being a relaxed and sporty feel, it just makes sense. We see dropped shoulders, wide cut trousers and shorts, bomber jackets and sport trims complimented with techno materials.

Street wear is also inspiring a lot of men to be creative when shopping and pairing items. We see clothing styles from each sector of fashion paired together to create a well-rounded outfit. Sportswear paired with high end fashion looks timeless and staple items styled with thoughtful accessories is simple but effective. Sport lux (sport cuts and looks constructed with luxurious materials) is definitely a trend to look out for. Inspired by the healthy and fitness lifestyle that many have bought into, this is the future of what men are wearing.

Denim on denim is back, paired with different shades of this fabric. Light tones with dark tones, as well as different weights and types of denim (from t-shirting, cottons and jeans).

A final word: look out for new colours in stores and make use of looser fits. Men, this is your fashion statement for summer. Don’t try too much at once- just adding one or two colours to your wardrobe is all you need.4
